Asia Online Portals (Thailand) Limited is an International web portal company that
leverages groundbreaking technologies to create and deliver high value content online.
The company is developing and applying solutions to unite communities across language
barriers for ten Asian languages and more than a dozen European languages.
Our mission is quite simple: To deliver the dominant Internet Portal in Asia. This
implies customer acceptance of our content and associated services as well as satisfaction
with our quality, support and innovation.
The company was formed in late 2006 in Bangkok, Thailand and has achieved a number
of world-first technology breakthroughs since then, some of which are in the process
of being patented.
Asia Online offers a wide range of services that exploit the unique automated machine
translation technology the company has developed. One of these is an online Portal.

Dion Wiggins
Chief Executive Officer
Dion Wiggins is a highly experienced ICT industry visionary, entrepreneur, analyst
and consultant. He has an impressive knowledge in the fields of software development,
architecture and management, as well as an in-depth understanding of Asian ICT markets.
He is an accomplished speaker and has a high media profile for his perceptive analysis
of ICT in Asia/Pacific.
Previously Dion was Vice President and Research Director for Gartner based in Hong
Kong, where he was the most senior and highly-respected analyst based in all of
Asia. Dion’s research reports on ICT in China helped change the way the world views
this market.
Dion is also a well-known pioneer of the Asian Internet Industry, being the founder
of one of Asia’s first ever ISPs (Asia Online in Hong Kong). In his role at Gartner
and in various other consulting positions prior to that, Dion advised literally
hundreds of enterprises on their ICT strategy.
Dion was a founder of The ActiveX Factory, where he was recipient of the Chairman's
Commendation Award presented by Microsoft's Bill Gates for the best showcase of
software developed in the Philippines. The US Government has recognized Dion as
being in the top 5% of his field worldwide and he is a former holder of a US O1
Extraordinary Ability Visa.

Gregory Binger
Chief Operating Officer
Gregory Binger has been a senior officer, board member, senior counsel or adviser
to many of the world’s best-known Internet brands, technology, communications, media
and entertainment companies. His positions have included Senior Counsel and Management
Board for at Yahoo! UK & Ireland, Executive Vice President & General Counsel
at Lycos Asia, Acting Senior Corporate Counsel for nineMSN Australia, and Acting
Senior Counsel Europe at CompuServe.
He has taken a hands-on approach in securing successful deals on a wide range of
issues relating to technology and media licensing and procurement, intellectual
property, information technology, technology outsourcing, systems integration, electronic,
online and mobile content, games and applications, animation and video postproduction,
VoIP, WiFi, and online betting and gaming.
Far from being an ivory tower academic, Greg has excelled at managing and achieving
successful results from multi-disciplinary teams of all sizes dealing with marketing,
business development and corporate governance. He has significant experience managing
companies in Asia. For example at Lycos Asia, he had oversight management of the
company secretarial function for the primary holding company and 23 affiliated companies
around the world.
Greg has been a frequent speaker and publisher of articles on such diverse topics
as hyper-linking risks, copyright and information distribution on computer networks,
data security, information privacy, content supply, resale and distribution, intellectual
property and technology convergence. He co-authored Computer Evidence: A Forensic
Investigations Handbook, a book that deals with covert electronic surveillance,
legal and ethical hacking and evidence gathering and preservation techniques.

Bob Hayward
Director of Strategic Development
Bob Hayward is an internationally recognized ICT expert who has set up, grown and
managed several successful ICT businesses across Asia/Pacific. He is a sought-after
public speaker, has a unique perspective on emerging technologies and the dynamics
of the Asia/Pacific technology markets and has personally advised literally hundreds
of enterprises on their Asia/Pacific strategies in his 30 year career in technology.
Previously, Bob was Senior Vice President and Research Fellow Asia-Pacific and Japan
for Gartner, and was the first employee of Gartner in the Asia/Pacific region. He
has authored many ground-breaking pieces of research on Asia/Pacific published by
Gartner and assisted dozens of enterprises across Asia/Pacific with their IT strategies,
organization, governance and technology decisions. Bob spent 14 years at Gartner,
and was awarded the CEO Award (employee of the year) in 2003.
Before Gartner, Bob was the first employee and VP for Asia/Pacific for Candle Corporation,
and also introduced Tivoli Systems into Asia/Pacific through his own distributorship.
Bob is an ex-Vice Chairman of the Australian Information Industries Association
(AIIA), and ex-Chairman of the AIIA Public Policy Task Force, the main committee
of the AIIA that works with the Federal Government of Australia on policy matters
related to the ICT industry. He was also a member of the Shanghai and Dalian Government
IT Expert Advisory Boards and was an ICT advisor to the Beijing Organizing Committee
for the Olympic Games.
Several years ago Bob co-founded InQbator on the Gold Coast, Australia, which has
gone on to become Australia’s most successful technology incubator and for which
he still provides advice and guidance.
Bob is a significant recognized contributor to two Harvard Press books, “The New
CIO Leader” by Broadbent/Kitzis and “IT and the East” by Iyengar/Popkin.

Kirti Vashee
Vice President of Sales, North America, South America and Europe
Kirti Vashee is a seasoned sales and marketing executive of technology products who has built a reputation as an evangelist for SMT technology. He has been a prominent and accomplished speaker on automated translation technology in a variety of localization and globalization technology focused conferences around the world. Kirti is known for his vision on the growing importance of automated translation technology in furthering international trade and communication. In addition to his worldwide partnership building experience, he has excellent knowledge of the knowledge management and translation industries.
Kirti has an extensive background in the enterprise software and information services industries and has been previously involved with several startups that were successfully sold to much larger public companies. He has held senior sales and product marketing positions in both small entrepreneurial companies as well as large public companies such as EMC and Dow Jones.
Previously, Kirti was Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Language Weaver, an SMT pioneer, where he was responsible for architecting their worldwide business development strategy. Prior to this, he was at EMC via a series of acquisitions of a company (Smart Storage) he was instrumental in building from a 5 person startup to a successful, globally recognized 125 person organization. He has established successful sales operations for several companies in Europe and the Asia Pacific region, and has extensive experience developing motivated and effective distribution channels and partner networks.

Philipp Koehn
Chief Scientist
Philipp Koehn is a lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the University of Edinburgh. His research centers on statistical machine translation, but he has also worked on speech in 1999 at AT&T Research Labs and text classification in 2000 at Whizbang Labs. Philipp is a co-founder of Getprice, a German price comparison Internet company, where he acted as CTO from 2000-2005.
Over the last decade, Philipp has helped to define the current standard approach to statistical machine translation. His 2003 paper is one of the most-cited papers in the field. Recent work is focused on (a) applying SMT techniques to a wide array of language pairs, (b) developing methods that are more sensitive to the linguistic properties of translation, (c) work on domain adaptation, (d) work on efficient methods that allow real-world performance.
Besides his research, his major contribution to the machine translation community are the preparation and release of the DE-News and Europarl corpora, as well as the Pharaoh and Moses decoder --- all of which are widely used. The statistical machine translation that was developed under his leadership over the last years is one of the top performers in recent DARPA, IWSLT and TCSTAR competitions. He organized workshops at ACL-2005, NAACL-2006 and ACL-2007 with a shared task concerning the translation between European languages. His GALE Project research is funded by DARPA and his EuroMatrix Project is funded by the European Commission.
Philipp received his PhD from the University of Southern California, where he was a research assistant at the Information Sciences Institute (ISI) from 1997 to 2003. He was a postdoctoral research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2004, and joined the University of Edinburgh as a lecturer in 2005.
