Asia Online needs to source large quantities of material in local Asian languages
that have been translated from English original documents. This content is required
to continually train our software programs to learn how to automatically translate
effectively between one language and another through the use of the very latest
in statistical software techniques. We are seeking Content Procurement Officers
to manage the process of sourcing a wide range of previously translated material
in various Asian languages from publishers, translation firms, the Internet, international
organizations (such as the UN, ASEAN, APEC) and other sources.
Roles
& Responsibilities:-
- To procure as large a body of local language text documents as possible that have
been translated from English original material.
- Work closely with publishers to source their translated content.
- To transform original material into a standard digital form (file format).
- To contribute ideas on alternative sources of translated material.
- Rely on experience and judgment to accomplish goals within a project plan under
general supervision.
Key Requirements:-
- Excellent reading skills.
- Some knowledge of IT concepts.
- Must be eager to learn about new technologies.
- Must be hard working, self-motivated, confident, proactive and have a positive working
attitude.
- Must have excellent teamwork skills as well as the ability to work independently.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and work
well with deadline.
- Must be flexible, work well under pressure and able to cope with rapid changes.
- Must have ability to communicate in English.
Desirable skills:-
- A willingness and ability to travel overseas if necessary.
- Prepared to work at home or publisher locations.
- Experience in using computers.
