Context is important.
Customized machine translation can be taught to handle context better.

Asia Online Language Studio™ currently supports more than 520 direct language pairs, with an additional 200+ language pairs currently under development. This represents more direct language pairs than any other automated machine translation software or product in the market.
A variety of language pairs are available using various combinations of the languages below. Most European languages can be translated into any other Eurpean language. Asian languages are limited to languages pairs from and to English at this time, but we are working to support language pairs in all directions and all supported languages in the future.

In order to build a high-quality customized translation engine , large volumes of data are required. Unfortunately not every organization has such data available. Asia Online has created sets of Language Pair foundation data from which you can build customized Language Studio™ engines. In addition, Asia Online is progressively building into Language Studio™ pre-built sets of data in 15 standard domains. This data is used to jump-start your own custom engines in grammar, vocabulary and style.
Foundation data from multiple domains can be combined to bring two topics such as Politics and Finance into a single custom engine. Start from any of the foundation domains listed below and add your own data to fully customize an engine to your own writing style and target audience.
Asia Online constantly evolves its foundation data, improving the quality and vocabulary range supported by Language Studio™.
Unlike many other competing translation technologies, all of the Language Studio™ language pairs go direct from one language to another (i.e. German French).
Language Studio™ does not use English as a middle language (i.e. German English ... English French) to bridge the gap between language pairs. This means that the opportunity to introduce translation errors is reduced and translation quality is higher.
By only translating directly between language pairs, Language Studio™ is able to perform a variety of pre- and post-processing tasks that increase the quality of translations. By pivoting translations, many of these tasks cannot be performed. Also by pivoting translations, any errors in the first translation will be compounded further by the second translation.
At Asia Online, we are obsessed with translation quality, and all of our processes are designed to reduce or eliminate the opportunities for errors to occur. Direct translations are an essential part of delivering this quality.
Asia Online is constantly developing support for new language pairs in Language Studio™. A language pair consists of two languages where the translation is undertaken in a single direction from one language to another such as English Chinese. Translating in the other direction Chinese English, is a different language pair.
While these may seem relatively the same, consider the differences between languages. Chinese does not have subject, gender or tense, while English has all three. As a result much more pre-processing is required to determine gender, tense and subject.
The table below shows the current language pairs supported in green and language pairs planned or under development in orange. Other language pairs are currently being developed on request for customers. If you have a specific language pair that is not currently supported, please contact the Asia Online team for more details. For schedules of language pairs currently under development, please contact the Asia Online team. Our schedules can be adjusted based on customer demand and requirements, so your feedback is important to us.
